Welcome to GiftIQ ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website at https://gift-iq.com (the "Service").
You can use the quiz without registering, and if you do, we store nothing about you on our servers. The following is kept in your own browser and never sent to us:
One thing does still leave your device, even without an account, and it would be misleading not to say so: your IP address is sent to ipapi.co so we can tell which country you are in. We do not store it, and they do not keep it against your name.

This one deserves saying plainly. When you create a profile for someone you buy gifts for, you can record their name, their relationship to you, their birthdate, notes about them and a photograph. That is information about a person who is not using this site and has not agreed to anything.
We store it only so the site can work for you, we never contact those people, and we do not use their details for anything else. Please only add what you would be comfortable them seeing, and if they ask you to remove it, you can delete the profile at any time.
Nothing. We do not use Google Analytics or any other tracking service, we do not set advertising cookies, and we do not build a profile of how you use the site.
This is also why you are not asked to accept cookies: there is nothing to accept. The only things kept in your browser are your quiz answers and, if you are signed in, your login session. Both are needed for the site to work.
We use ipapi.co to work out which country you are in, so we can show the right currency and link to the right Amazon store. We do not collect or store precise location.
Account information, wishlists and recipient profiles are held by Supabase, who host our database. They may store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, which means it may be subject to the laws of those countries.
Account information is kept for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and the account, its wishlists and its recipient profiles are removed. Information kept only in your browser is removed when you clear your browser data.
We use collected information for the following purposes:
In your browser: your quiz answers, the recommendations you were shown and your chosen country are kept in your browser's local storage. That information stays on your device.
On our servers: if you create an account, your email address, password hash, wishlists and recipient profiles are stored in a database hosted by Supabase. This information does leave your device.
Cookies: we set no tracking or advertising cookies. Signing in stores a session so you stay logged in, and that is all.
Supabase hosts the database holding accounts, wishlists and recipient profiles. They process this information on our instructions and do not use it for their own purposes.
GiftIQ participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. When you click affiliate links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Amazon may set cookies and collect information about your browsing.

Our Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
GiftIQ is hosted in the United States. If you access our Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using our Service, you consent to this transfer.
